DEV
Share your articles with the DEV community, straight from your blog
Write on LookMyBio and let each chosen post reach DEV as Markdown, with its cover, description, tags and canonical URL already filled in.
DEV sits beside your other cross-post destinations from Starter.
- Connect with an API key
- Sent as Markdown
- Canonical URL to your post
- Up to 4 tags
- Later edits sent on request

Your developer readers are on DEV
Reposting a technical article on DEV after it already ran on your blog means converting it to Markdown, rewriting the embeds in DEV's syntax, squeezing the tags into DEV's rules and pasting the canonical URL by hand.
Your digital presence doesn't have to be this fragmented
LookMyBio brings the whole flow into one platform, so you produce in a more organized way and stay in control of what gets published.
How it works
Generate a DEV API key
On DEV, go to Settings, Extensions, describe what the key is for and generate it.
Add it to your blog
Paste the key into the destinations of your LookMyBio blog. The connection shows up under your DEV username.
Pick DEV for an article
Tick DEV in the Cross-post window; the article leaves for DEV once your post is live or its scheduled hour arrives.
A personal API key, nothing more
The DEV API works with keys you create in your own account settings. A key acts for your account alone, and revoking it on DEV stops any further articles from being sent.
- Listed as your @username once connected
- Publish on DEV or keep the article as an unpublished draft
Markdown, code blocks and DEV embed tags
The article is converted to Markdown, code blocks keep their language, and players such as YouTube videos or posts on X turn into DEV embed tags so they play on the page. DEV accepts 4 tags made of lowercase letters and numbers, so spaces and symbols are stripped and extra tags are skipped.
- Your cover becomes the DEV cover image
- Your excerpt fills the article description
DEV points search engines to your blog
Each DEV article has a canonical URL setting. The copy sets it to your original post, so DEV notes where the piece first appeared and search engines treat your blog's address as the source.
- No credit line is appended to the Markdown
Fix a code sample once
Correct the original and the Cross-post window flags the DEV article as stale; once you send the update, that same DEV article is rewritten, not posted again.
- Comments from DEV readers land in your comments inbox, read-only
- To reply or moderate, follow the link to the comment on DEV

Post a translated version too
Translate the article into a new draft, linked to the original, in another language; check the technical terms, then cross-post that draft to DEV separately.
